This Week
Chessed of Hod - Lovingkindness in Humility
May 1 - 14h Iyar (Pesach Sheini)
Healthy humility is not out of pity, but out of love and joy. Humility is often confused with low self-esteem which causes it to not be loving. Having humility allows us to go beyond ourselves and love another.
Today, begin by acknowledging Hashem in your davening and give a little extra Tzedaka.
Gevurah of Hod - Discipline of Humility
May 2 - 15th Iyar
Humility must include the discipline of respect and awe for the person you are being humble before. Another aspect of Gevurah of Hod is when should we compromise.
Today, think about an area where you won't compromise and see if it comes from a healthy place of humility.
Tiferes of Hod - Compassion in Humility
May 3 - 16th Iyar
Is my humility compassionate? Does my humility cause me to be anti-social and have a low self-esteem or is my humility a beautiful balance? Just as humility brings compassion, compassion brings humility. If you struggle to be humble work on your compassion.
Today, express a feeling of humility within an act of compassion.
Netzach of Hod - Endurance of Humility
May 4 - 17th Iyar
Am I still humble when I am faced with a challenge? Humility should not cause us to feel insecure. Netzach of Hod reminds us that we are not the doormat for others to step on. Netzach gives us the strength to be secure in whom we are while still being humble.
Today, demonstrate strength in humility by actively participating in a good thing. Show that you are giving of yourself but still are strong.
Hod of Hod - Humility of Humility
May 5 - 18th Iyar (Lag B'Omer)
What is true humility? Humility is knowing that Hashem gave us talents and gifts that we have to use for good. However, we must recognize that had Hashem given certain talents to someone else, they could have done a better job.
Today, use your gifts for good.
Yessod of Hod - Bonding of Humility
May 6 - 19th Iyar
Having humility should bring us closer to others. Having humility allows us to really connect with others by understanding and being there. This is Ahavas Yisroel, just like Rabbi Akiva taught.
Today, practice having humility by listening to what others want and need, to create a closer connection.
Malchus of Hod - Nobility of Humility
May 7 - 20th Iyar
Walking humbly is walking tall. Having dignity is the essence of humility. Ask yourself if your humility makes you feel dignified. Be a Bas Melech!
Today, teach someone how humility enhances our dignity.
