This Week
Chessed of Gevurah - Lovingkindness in Discipline
April 10 - 23rd of Nissan
When we judge others it often comes from a place of love. When we really love someone we want them to be the best we can be. Like when you tell your little sister what to wear you want her to look her best because you love her. When we judge others we are subconsciously trying to make them aware of their less-than-perfect actions. We should work on not judging others, so we are going to start off small, at least ensuring we have good intentions.
Today, before you share criticism - think twice. Ask if the criticism is coming from a place of love. For example, you can tell your sister to say something a little nicer so you can teach her the right way to speak.
Gevurah of Gevurah - Discipline of Discipline
April 11 - 24th of Nissan
Too much discipline or strictness isn't good. We need to reflect on how much discipline we have to see if we need more or if we need to relax a bit. Ask yourself: Am I organized? Do I use my time efficiently? Am I accomplishing the tasks (like homework) that I need each day?
Today, take a few moments to plan out the things you want to accomplish and how you are going to spend your day.
Tiferes of Gevurah - Compassion of Discipline
April 12 - 25th of Nissan
Chessed and Gevurah seem to be opposites. Chessed - Love is loving someone's positive qualities while Gevurah works to strengthen the negative qualities. Tiferes is unconditional love, not focusing on any specific qualities. We love others because Hashem loves every one of his creations, and because we have a Neshama, we are a reflection of Hashem.
Today, show compassion to someone whom you aren't best friends with. Maybe another girl in your class.
Netzach of Gevurah - Endurance of Discipline
April 13 - 26th of Nissan
For discipline or focus to be effective it has to be strong and consistent. Ask yourself are you always focused or only when you are forced? Do you focus all the way through your task?
Today, set a couple of goals for today and a couple for the next week and see if you accomplish them.
Hod of Gevurah - Humility of Discipline
April 14 - 27th of Nissan
Too much discipline without humility causes arrogance and judging others. Ask yourself if you look down on other people, or think that you are better than certain friends. A judge has to be humble, recognizing that Hashem gave him the right to judge.
Today, try your hardest not to judge others!
Yessod of Gevurah - Bonding of Discipline
April 15 - 28th of Nissan
For discipline and focus to be effective you need to commit. The best way is to understand the stronger bond and connection you are developing.
Today reflect on how being focused or disciplined has helped you grow.
Malchus of Gevurah - Nobility of Discipline
April 16 - 29th of Nissan
Sometimes too much discipline will break down a person. Imagine going a whole day without eating and then getting to finally eat you are going to fill five plates! Discipline needs to build you up and make you stronger.
Today, make sure that if you discipline someone, it's to build them up, OR if you are disciplined, think about why you were disciplined and how you can be stronger.
